KFC Would Like To Thank You For Adding Hope
KFC’s Add Hope Campaign made its mark on World Hunger Relief Month during October 2010 by raising R1 521 646 through in-store customer donations, which will go towards feeding over 700 000 hungry children in South Africa.
The Add Hope initiative strives to drive awareness of the hunger issue and raise funds, which supports hunger alleviation projects around South Africa. The campaign is active throughout the year and in the last year to date KFC consumers have donated over R6 million in R2 coins at KFC restaurants nationwide.
The campaign ensures that all funds raised through the programme stay in South Africa and are utilised for a variety of local causes, including national feeding initiatives at SOS Children's Villages which feeds 1000 children a month and at World Vision Feeding programmes, which help the local communities of South Africa. Consumers are given the opportunity to make a personal contribution by adding a R2 donation and purchasing KFC’s most satisfying meal of the day.
According to Lauren Turnbull, KFC CSI and Sponsorship Manager, “The success of the October drive to raise awareness and funds for the Add Hope Campaign is a direct response from our customers and we would like to thank them for their generous support, which has allowed us to make a real difference in the lives of some of South Africa’s less privileged communities. Through this campaign we have put food on thousands of children’s plates and hope in their hearts. The Add Hope Campaign is a long term commitment on behalf of the brand, which is only made possible through the compassion and partnership with our customers”.
The pinnacle of the October campaign was on International World Hunger Day, October 16th, when Highveld Stereo’s Pabi Moloi and Protea star Morne Morkel visited the KFC outlet located at Fourways Crossing and showed their support for the cause by signing autographs, while motivating people to donate R2 to feed a hungry child. The driver behind the campaign was to allow consumers to identify that the most satisfying meal of the day at KFC was the one that helped feed the starving and added hope to their lives. Check out how customers added hope on this wonderful day.
